Celosia (woolflower) is delivered in a standard nursery pot. Water immediately upon receipt. It will look lovely in an attractive planter or just a large dish but try making your Celosia Deep Purple® 'Caracas' an extra focal point in your home or garden with a nice trendy one.
Celosia Deep Purple® ‘Caracas’ looks great indoors but will thrive on a summer or autumn patio or decking. Lots of light will be appreciated - lots of sun is fine too but do acclimatise it gradually.
Celosias are fine indoors or out but if indoors, be sure to choose a nice light spot – they will actually be better off there, than outside in all weathers.
Water your Celosia (woolflower) only when the top layer of soil feels dry and do water the compost, not the flowers. This plant will not appreciate standing in water so be sure any run off is poured away after about 10 minutes.
Keeping these plants in a cooler room overnight (15 degrees centigrade) will help it to stay attractive for longer.
Celosia does not like it too cold though, and certainly will not tolerate frost. When frost is expected put them in a bright spot.
Celosia argentea originated in Africa and is cultivated in the tropics of South America and Asia too, as a vegetable – It is a popular leaf eaten like spinach and it is known as Lagos Spinach in Africa
Plume Celosia Deep Purple® ‘Caracas’ is a lovely culitvar grown in Europe as an annual. It lasts a long time over the summer.
Celosia argentea is classified as Amaranthaceae.
