Pink blueberry Vaccinium 'Pink Lemonade' - Organic pink-green

Vaccinium corybosum 'Pink Lemonade'
Home-grown berries
Fresh, pink lemonade? Refreshing on a hot summer day! We can grow our own pink blueberries with 'Pink Lemonade' (Vaccinium corymbosum). The organically grown shrub also looks amazing in our garden. The butterflies and bees the plant attracts are an added bonus. The perennial fruit bush blossoms in the spring, when it reveals its beautiful white and pink flowers. A crop will be ready to harvest from summer onwards in the second year after planting.
Sufficient light is needed to ensure good growth. For this reason, the fruit bush should be planted in full sun. The blueberry thrives in acidic, moist soil. It's best to give the tree extra water during dry spells.
The plant is grown organically. In other words, no chemical pesticides have been used to grow the plant. For a healthy garden!

Prepare a suitable hole for your blueberry 'Pink Lemonade'. They need a moisture-retentive, acidic soil so improve your soil with ericaceous compost. Make sure the root ball of blueberry 'Pink Lemonade' is well-moistened before planting by soaking it in a bucket of lukewarm water.

Plant the blueberry at the appropriate depth in the hole - the top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly down. Water immediately after planting. Plant the bushes 1.5 m apart. Plant this bush in sun or part shade. Shade is quite well-tolerated and the soil can be fairly wet.
Feed the blueberry 'Pink Lemonade' in spring with a fertilizer that contains no calcium (such as potassium sulphate), and give it a good mulching. Give the plant extra water during dry periods, ideally they prefer rain water. When the beautiful blueberries are slightly soft when touched and a nice pink colour (so not blue), they can be picked.

In July you will be rewarded with your first harvest, and August will be the end of the fruiting season. They can be eaten fresh, but they are also ideal for jam making. Freezing the berries is also possible.

You rarely need to prune a blueberry bush. Keep about six to eight branches on each bush. Remove the oldest branches to allow new shoots to grow.
