Plant the petunias 'Surprise' as soon as possible after receiving them in the ground, a flower pot or a hanging basket. Prepare a suitable planting hole and improve poor garden soil by adding compost or potting compost. Arrange the plants approximately 20 cm apart, top up with soil and press firmly. Water your petunias 'Surprise' immediately after planting. Use fresh potting compost if planting in a pot. These plants will be smothered with flowers all summer long when placed in complete sunshine.
Petunias look great in flower pots and hanging baskets
The Petunias in the 'Surprise' mix are ideal for planting in flower pots, planters and hanging baskets. During the spring, arrange the young plants closely together in fresh potting compost and create beautiful garden pots by combining them with Lobelia, Hanging Geraniums and Verbena.
Regular fertilization provides a rich flowering of petunias in the 'Surprise' mix. Feed them with plant food mixed with the irrigation water on a regular basis during the flowering period. Deadheading regularly will encourage your petunias to produce more flower buds.
Petunias are popular for growing in hanging baskets. The stems can also hang over a low garden wall like a small cascading waterfall. The 'Sunrise' petunias also make excellent ground cover plants with their long stems trailing over the soil. Fill an area surrounded by 'Box' hedging or create a border along the garden path with these colourful petunias.
