Dwarf Pear can be grown in a pot
Dwarf Pear grows well in a flower pot or planter. It takes up little space but provides great benefits. Place the Dwarf Pear in a sheltered, sunny area. You can create a 'mini-orchard' by planting the Dwarf Pear, Peach, Cherry, Apricot and Apple in pots and placing them together on your patio or decking.
The Dwarf Pear is easy to grow. Water it regularly. Are you growing your Dwarf Pear in a pot? Never let the root ball dry out. Early in the year, it is recommended to give it some mixed organic fertilizer. Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the tree.
Dwarf Pear needs pruning
The Dwarf Pear grows its pears on short, high branched arms, which stimulate growth. Prune all main branches to 3-6 buds (not during the frost period). These short side branches will produce the pears. The pruning period is from November to March. Completely remove dead branches. Are flowers still appearing after the fruiting? If so, pull them off. Keep two pears per bunch and remove any excess pears.
The Dwarf Pear is a compact pear tree that grows very slowly and will not take up too much space. Plant Dwarf Pear near other pear trees for pollination so that you're sure to have pears. You can pick the pears from September to October, depending on the weather. The pears can be eaten immediately or stored for a while in a cool area.
