A vigorously growing climber. The autumn-coloured berries of the Asian tree strangler (Celastrus orbiculatus) are a real eye-catcher. The flowers bloom in the spring. The berries appear in the autumn. Berries only appear on female plants.
The Oriental bittersweet does not require pruning. If it is too big, prune it back after its dormant period (end of winter, beginning of spring). The Celastrus prefers to be in a place with a mix of moderate sun and shade. The soil should be kept damp. Give it extra water during dry periods.
