We recommend planting the 8 plants from our winter collection as quickly as possible after receipt in a patio pot or window-box. Choose a pot with holes in the base to provide adequate drainage. Cover the bottom of the pot with pot sherds or a layer of hydro pellets. Use fresh potting compost and plant the roots of the plants at the correct depth. Fill with compost and press firmly down. Water generously immediately after planting and place in a sunny spot.
Water your Winter Collection regularly; do not allow the soil to dry out. Completely remove all withered leaves. To encourage a longer flowering period for the Violas remove any faded flowers. Further pruning is not necessary. For extra abundant growth, we advise adding plant food when watering during the flowering season. The plants in this Winter Collection are hardy but do need protection during periods of frost.
Our Winter Collection consists of 3 white Christmas Roses (Helleborus Niger), 2 Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) and 3 Violas (Viola hybr.). The Christmas Rose is an evergreen perennial that flowers in winter months with white flowers. Wintergreen is a small evergreen bush with lovely, striking berries in a warm shade of red which also looks great in a hanging basket, and 3 pretty Violas which flower until April.
