Planting+

The fragrant jasmine does just fine in potting soil. Take a large pot or planter with holes in the bottom. Cover the bottom with pot shards or a layer of clay pebbles. Add a layer of potting soil and carefully place the jasmine root ball at the correct height. Add some more potting soil and press it down firmly. Give plenty of water immediately after planting. Place the fragrant jasmine in a sheltered, sunny spot on your patio or balcony.

If you love the beautiful fragrances, your patio cannot do without a healthy Jasmine. Create striking, fragrant patio combinations with Jasmine, standing buttonbush, rose geranium and hanging roses. The fragrant jasmine can also be planted (in a pot) in the yard for summer. Just don’t forget to dig it up before the first night frost and keep it in a frost-free place.

Care+

The fragrant jasmine is a climbing patio plant with flexible branches that like to grab onto a fence or climbing support. So don’t forget to put a climbing frame or another climbing element in the pot or planter. After the jasmine has bloomed, you can lightly thin out the bush. Regularly adding plant food to the water supply will help the Common Jasmine bloom beautifully.

It’s relatively easy to get Jasmine through the winter, even though the fragrant jasmine is no perennial plant. Place the Jasmine in a cool and light space before the first night frost begins. Water very moderately. The temperature can be between 4 and 12 °C. From April, de-hibernate the Jasmine, by raising the temperature a bit and watering it more frequently. You can move the fragrant jasmine back to the patio around the middle of May.

Extra+

The Jasmine’s key selling point is the beautiful fragrance from its star-shaped white flowers. This strong fragrance will drift across your entire patio like a natural perfume! The flowers continue to bloom until fall. The great thing about the fragrant jasmine is that it’s also very suitable for indoors. Just make sure you put some climbing support in the pot. This can be anything from a thick metal wire to a small frame.
