Dwarf peach tree ‘Bonanza‘ - Bare-rooted - Hardy plant

Prunus persica 'Bonanza'
Fresh peaches from our own soil
Looking for a miniature peach tree? That's the dwarf peach tree ‘Bonanza‘. We love it! This self-pollinating peach tree grows compactly, meaning that it takes up very little space. Despite this, the sweet fruits are nice and big. We grow our own fresh peaches in our garden. Alternatively, it can be planted in a pot on a patio, roof terrace or balcony. We supply the dwarf peach tree ‘Bonanza‘ as bare-root stock — just the bare branch and roots. The branch is freshly removed from the soil. This gives it additional strength, enabling it to branch out faster than it would in a nursery pot. Plants grown from bare-root stock also adapt to their new environment more easily. They grow better and they're more economical. The fruit tree blossoms in spring. That's when it reveals its lovely pink flowers. A crop will be ready to harvest from summer onwards in the second year after planting. Pruning is not necessary. The hardy peach tree grows in well-drained soil. It's best to give the tree extra water during dry spells. Sufficient light is needed to ensure good growth, which is why we plant the fruit tree in full or half sun.

Planting+

Make sure the root ball is well-moistened before planting Dwarf Peach by soaking it in a bucket of lukewarm water. Prepare a suitable hole and loosen the soil with a fork. Plant the root ball of Dwarf Peach at the correct depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. The Dwarf Peach grows best in well-drained, fertile soil. Plant the tree in a sunny area. It is also possible to grow in a greenhouse or conservatory.

Dwarf Peach can grow in a pot

Dwarf Peach grows well in a flower pot or planter. It takes up little space but provides great benefits. Place the Dwarf Peach in a sheltered, sunny area. You can create a 'mini-orchard' by planting the Dwarf Peach, Nectarine, Apricot and Apple in pots and placing them together on your patio or decking.

Care+

The Dwarf Peach is easy to grow. Water it regularly. Are you growing your Dwarf Peach in a pot? Never let the root ball dry out. Early in the year, it is recommended to give it some mixed organic fertiliser. Place a layer of compost around the tree. The peaches will ripen depending on the weather from the second half of July, you'll know when they are ready for harvesting by the dark colour. Leave some peaches on the tree longer and they become even sweeter. To protect against the birds getting to the fruit first it is advisable to put netting over the tree.

Extra+

In spring, the Dwarf Peach's branches are covered with beautiful pink blossom. The flowers are quite large and may have a subtle fragrance. The flowers are pollinated by insects, and the yellowish-orange fruits develop. The peaches are harvested during the summer. They have slightly hairy skin and succulent flesh.
