Cycas revoluta - Plant

Cycas - revoluta
Description:
The Cyclas revoluta is literally a houseplant for life! The large Sago palm can grow up to 3 metres tall. You need a little patience though, because the plant will need about 100 years to get there. The feather-shaped leaves point proudly straight up to the sky. This independent palm requires very little care. Water weekly in the summer and once every two weeks in the winter. Let the soil dry out completely before you water again. The Cycas does like light, but not strong, midday sun. The plant loves morning and evening sun.

How to plant the Cycas Revoluta in a pot?
This houseplant is delivered in a standard growers pot. It’s best for the growth of Cycas Revoluta to put the plant in a decorative pot. This is best done right after purchase, or in the spring. Select a pot that is at least 20 percent larger than the growers pot.

Cover the bottom of the decorative planter with a layer of potting soil. The Sago palm should be 1 to 2 cm below the rim. Remove the growers pot and place the plant in the middle of the decorative pot. Fill the pot with fresh potting soil and press it down slightly. Repot the Cycas palm every 3 years into a larger size to promote growth.

How to take care of the Cycas Revoluta?
The Cycas Revoluta needs little water. So, let the soil dry out before you water again. In winter, the Sago palm can easily remain dry for 2 weeks. You can eventually add a quarter of the recommended fertiliser dosage to the water in spring and summer only. Spraying the plant occasionally will definitely promote health.

A spot with 3 to 5 hours of sunlight is ideal for this Cycas palm. With too little light, new leaves will be very long. Then slide the plant a bit closer to the window. You can then also prune the leaves a bit. The Peace palm can go out in summer, but avoid the afternoon sun.
