Prepare a large planting hole in good nutritious soil and loosen the soil well. Plant your Cherry Tree 'Sylvia' root ball at the correct depth in the hole - the top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole and press firmly in. Cherry Tree 'Sylvia' grows well in a large pot or planter. The tree itself takes up little space but provides terrific, large cherries. Stand Cherry Tree 'Sylvia' in a sheltered, sunny spot. Create a 'mini-orchard' - plant Cherry Tree 'Sylvia', Patio Peach, Cherry, Apple and Apricot in containers and group them all together on your patio or decking.
Cherry Tree 'Sylvia' is easy to grow. Water it regularly and don't let the root ball dry out. We recommend some mixed organic fertiliser early in the year. Place a layer of compost around the tree. The cherries ripen in June and July, as they get dark in colour. To protect against the birds getting to the fruit first it is advisable to put a netting over the tree.

Do not prune when there are signs of frosts. Prune branches that have borne little fruit after the harvesting period. Prune crossing branches and branches growing vertically.
Columnar Cherry Tree 'Sylvia' grows quite slowly and doesn't take up much room. In spring the tree will display beautiful white blossom. You can pick the cherries between June and July. Eat them straight from the bush or make them into a delicious jam. Cherries are very healthy, low in calories and full of fibre and vitamins.
