Prepare a large hole in good, loose soil when planting Cherry 'Kordia'. Improve poor garden soil by adding compost. Plant the Cherry 'Kordia' at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Cherry 'Kordia' grows best in a sunny area. Approximately 2 x 3 m of space is required for this plant.
Cherry 'Kordia' is easy to grow. Water the cherry tree regularly (give it extra during dry periods). we recommend to give some mixed organic fertilizer early in the year. Place a layer of compost around the tree. The cherries ripen in June and July as they turn into a dark red colour. Birds also love this fruit, so be prepared and use a protection net or foil.
Cherry 'Kordia' can be pruned
Cherry 'Kordia' needs hardly any pruning. After harvesting, prune the branches that have borne little fruit (not during frost period). Prune crossing branches and branches growing vertically. Completely remove dead branches.
Cherry 'Kordia' is a very rich-bearing variety that produces large, shiny, dark red cherries. The juicy flesh is delicious and sweet. Beautiful white cherry blossoms appear during the year and are gorgeous in the flower garden. You can pick the cherries in June and July. Eat them straight from the tree or make delicious jam with them. Cherries are very healthy because they contain few calories and lots of fibre and vitamins.
