Cedar 'Feelin Blue' - Hardy plant

Cedrus deodara 'Feelin Blue'
A spectacular deodar cedar!
This spectacular deodar cedar (Cedrus deodara ‘Feelin’ Blue’), with its blue-green needles, is one of the lowest-growing cedar trees. It is an unusually decorative, slow-growing dwarf conifer with drooping branches, which cause the plant to grow broadly outwards. After 10 years, this tree only reaches around a metre in height. It looks fantastic in a relatively small garden, but is also well suited to a larger one. Give the deodar cedar (Cedrus deodara ‘Feelin’ Blue’) a sunny location with plenty of space for it to grow out.

Seasonal effects

The appearance of a hedge changes between seasons. From a bare plant lying dormant in winter to fresh greenery in spring, in full bloom during summer to leaves changing colour and dropping in autumn. This is a natural process courtesy of mother nature. Our plants will be delivered accordingly.

What do I need?

  • Trowel
  • Watering can
  • Watering can or Gardena® spiral hose set

Be sure that the root ball of the Cedrus is thoroughly damp. Place the conifer in a bucket of water for 15 minutes before planting. Create a spacious hole for planting and till the soil well. Place the root ball into the planting hole. The top side of the root ball should be just below ground level. Fill the hole up with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Place this conifer in a location with full sun.

What do I need?

  • Pruning shears
  • Cow manure pellets
  • Watering can or garden hose

Conifers generally handle dry periods well, but in the first year after planting, do not allow the soil around the roots to dry out. Once the cedar has properly established itself, the plant is very easy to maintain. Pruning is not required, because this conifer maintains its gorgeous shape on its own. However, if the plant grows to be too wide, you can always clip off the excess. The spring is a good time to do it. Several times a year, you should sprinkle cow manure pellets around the plant and water it immediately.

Cedrus deodara is native to Afghanistan and the western Himalayas.
