Candytuft (Iberiis ssempervirens) is an easy-to-grow evergreen perennial which thrives almost anywhere. Be sure to prevent the soil around its roots from drying out. Regularly snip off the faded flower stems to encourage reflowering and cut back around the half of all new shoots. In the winter, protect this plant from frost with a layer of leaf litter.
Candytuft produces masses of fresh looking flowers along their stems and are known for attracting butterflies and bees. The twisted looking flowers are quite interesting. In fact, with two large and two small petals, they naturally look a bit distorted! Iberis is classified under Cruciferae, or Brassicaceae.
