This seed requires no prior treatment but a 24 hour soak in lukewarm water will encourage germination.
Care+
The flowers of Camellia (Camellia japonica) appear at the end of the winter around the beginning of March. During this period as it could still freeze, the flowers may get brown spots and the buds can be damaged due to frost so do protect them with bubble wrap, or straw matting.
They should be pruned as little as possible but do deadhead overblown flower. A slight pruning in April can help keep the shrub to size. Fertilise lightly before flowering starts. Spray regularly with (rain) water.
