Place the AquaForWeeks pot with the Calathea as soon as possible in a nice light spot in your home. Morning or evening sun is ok, but it's best to avoid the brightest midday sun. Water the plant immediately and fill the entire reservoir.
Water your Calathea regularly. With AquaForWeeks pots they need filling every 3-5 weeks (depending on the plant and ambient temps). This plant doesn't like to much fertiliser. Use half the recommended dosage on a bottle of liquid feed. Calathea is a real jungle plant so dislikes direct sunlight but likes it humid. Spray the foliage regularly with rain water to keep the leaves looking good. If the air is too dry, dry leaves may appear.
Each leaf lasts a couple of years and eventually turns brown. These can then be snipped off if they don't drop off. If your plant is happy, it will definitely produce new foliage.
A Calathea enjoys being outside on a warm rainy day, without too much sunshine, for a nice shower. Your plant will noticeably thrive from it!
If you follow all these tips, your Calathea will continue to grow and flourish for a long time.
Due to the 'sleep mode' of the leaves, this plant is also referred to as the prayer plant (folded hands). Calatheas are members of the Marantaceae family. The plant will eventually show discrete flowers.
