Antenna fern Doryopteris cordata

Doryopteris cordata
Unique shapes
They look just like antennae! The erect stems make this fern extraordinary. The unique fern is easy to grow. And very decorative! The fern is easy to care for. Always keep the potting soil moist, without letting the plant stand in water. Spray the leaves occasionally. That way, they won't dry out. Place the plant in full or partial shade.

Planting+

Doryopteris cordata (the antenna fern) is supplied in a standard nursery pot. If potting over to a bigger one, use humus rich potting compost. You could also just stand this pot in a pretty planter. Just a saucer under the pot would also suffice. Allow drainage to stand for a short time only (pour away if it lies for too long). Only water again when it's all been absorbed or it has evaporated. Do not water again if the saucer still has water lying in it. Basically, keep the soil moist.
Stand your unusual little antenna fern (Doryopteris cordata) in a warm spot out of direct sunlight - temperatures should preferably never drop to below 15 degrees Centigrade. In a cooler environment (still about 15 degrees) the plant will require less watering.

Care+

The antenna fern (Doryopteris cordata) is a genuine plant of the rainforest so will not appreciate full sun! The antenna fern likes it humid so spray regularly with tepid (rain)water to keep the leaves looking healthy. Too dry air and you will soon see dried out leaf edges. No need to feed this plant too much either - just half the dosage suggested on any packing, either liquid or powder fertiliser for leafy plants.
Water less frequently in the winter and only water more in the spring, with the addition of some fertiliser for leafy plants.

Extra+

Doryopteris cordata (antenna fern) is a tropical rainforest plant from the Amazonian regions of South America. It grows there on trees and rocks - it is what's called epiphytic.
Doryopteris is classified under Pteridaceae.
