Hippeastrum 'White Garden' is a bulb that flowers easily indoors. Plant the sturdy bulb in the supplied basket or in a flower pot filled with fresh potting compost. Cover it with moss. About a third of the bulb should be protruding from the soil. Place a layer of pot shards or hydro pellets in the base of the pot. Did you know that this beautiful amaryllis will also do very well in a sheltered spot in open ground? Do keep in mind, however, that you will have to protect the amaryllis during the winter months.

Place the Hippeastrum 'White Garden' bulb immediately in full sunlight, in a warm spot. Give little water at first. Once you see that the bulb is starting to grow, you can give a little more water. Now, you should also regularly add plant nutrition to the water. If you place the plant in a cooler location during the flowering period, it will remain beautiful for longer. Completely cut away the flower stem after flowering.

Keeping Hippeastrum through the winter

Continue watering and feeding your Hippeastrum 'White Garden' even after it has flowered, so that the plant is able to store a lot of nutrition in its bulb. In September you can stop watering, the leaves are allowed to die off now. Store the bulb in a dark, cool place. In December you can repot the bulb and it will start growing again.

Hippeastrum 'White Garden' has slightly smaller, white flowers. Each bulb produces several stems with numerous flowers that create a beautiful picture. They are also really pretty in a vase or a flower arrangement. Hippeastrum is also known by its old name Amaryllis.
