Description-

A hedge with strong roots!

A sturdy hedge! That exactly what this two-year-old privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) is. During a mild winter, the privet will remain green. In the spring, the hedge produces white flowers. These later change into black berries. The berries are poisonous to humans, but birds love to eat them. The hedge will flourish in all types of soil and is easy to prune. For a beautiful, closed hedge, we recommend using five plants per metre. We deliver the privet as bare-root stock: just the six bare branches and roots. The plants are shipped fresh from the ground. They are already two years old. This gives them additional strength, enabling them to branch out faster than they would in a nursery pot. Plants grown from bare-root stock also adapt to their new environment more easily. They grow better and they're more economical. The hedge should be pruned twice per year. Once in the spring and once in the autumn. For the best results, give the hedge "beech and hedge" food. The hedge will grow in any moist, well-drained soil. Make sure that the ground stays moist during the initial period after planting. It's best to give them extra water during dry periods. And they need sufficient light order to grow well. The hedge grows best in full or half sun.

Planting+
Dig a trench for the Ligustrum ovalifolium. Improve the excavated soil with compost and manure. Add some sharp sand to heavy soil. Soak the plants in water for one hour before planting. Divide the hedges into the drench planting five shrubs for every metre. You can also plant a double row of shrubs. The top of the root balls should be flush with ground level in the garden (please note that some land will collapse). Fill with soil, and give it lots of water so that it almost turns into a swamp. It is advised to prune the top of the hedges immediately after planting. Water regularly during the first year after planting.
Care+
Ligustrum ovalifolium is a very strong hedge that requires minimal maintenance. Be sure to prevent the roots from drying out during the first few months after planting. It needs enough light for a good growth. You can also plant some bushes or large perennials next to the hedge. During the winter, compost and cow manure pellets are greatly appreciated.
Specifics+
Ligustrum ovalifolium is a very well known hedge plant that keeps some of its leaves in the winter and tolerates pruning very well. If you don't prune too much, cute white flower clusters will start appearing in summer. The flower clusters smell delicious!
