3x Silver Korean fir

Abies koreana
A fir tree from the East
Ideal for a smaller garden! The Korean fir is a slow-growing fir tree. Its fragrant branches make it an excellent choice of Christmas tree! The fir is evergreen and winter-hardy! The silver Korean fir (Abies Koreana) has blue-green needles and purple cones. You can plant the tree all year round, provided temperatures have not dipped below freezing. The cones bloom in the summer.
The fir does not require pruning. Place the shrub in full sun. Give the hedge plenty of water for the first few months after planting. Give them extra water during dry periods.

Planting+

Make sure the root ball of the Korean Fir is well-moistened - soak in a bucket of lukewarm water overnight. Prepare a suitable hole in moist but well-drained soil and plant your Korean Fir at the correct depth - the top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil, heel well in and water immediately after planting. The Korean Fir will thrive in slightly acidic, sandy soil (preferably not clay soil) and is best planted where it can enjoy full sunshine.

Korean Fir looks great in the garden

This beautiful Korean Fir is a showpiece in any garden. You can plant Abies koreana as a solitary plant, for example, in your lawn. Or other good choices would be in the border, rockery or in amongst the heaths. Korean Fir will also thrive in a large planter where, with limited space around the roots, the tree will grow very slowly.

Care+

The Korean Fir has minimal requirements and is very easy to maintain. During the first few months after planting, do prevent the roots from drying out. Once the Abies koreana becomes established it will tolerate drought quite well. Pruning is unnecessary as it already has its own beautiful shape.

Extra+

The Korean Fir is native to South Korea. It is a strong evergreen tree that can be fairly robust and therefore needs quite a bit of space, although luckily, it doesn't grow very fast. The maximum width it can reach is no more than 2.5 metres, even after many years.
