3x Naked lady Colchicum 'The Giant' + 'Waterlily' + 'Autumnale Album' white-pink

Colchicum 'Waterlily' + 'Album' + 'The Giant'
Colourful window box
A mix of pink and white simple flowers! The naked lady (Colchicum) produces magnificent flowers without needing any moisture or soil, so you can simply place the dry bulbs in the window box. Once flowering is over, you can plant the tubers outside. The naked lady is frost hardy, so you can simply leave it out in the garden. Plant the tubers in the autumn. In well-drained soil. The flowers bloom in the spring.
The tubers can be planted in open ground or in a pot. Potted tubers aren't frost hardy, so bring the pot indoors or protect the plant with bubble wrap. Space the tubers out when planting in open ground. The distance between plants is three times the width of the tuber. Plant the tuber the depth of three times the tuber's height. Plant the tubers in full sun or partial shade. Water the tuber immediately after planting. Don't water it until the soil feels dry to the touch. The tubers come in organic packaging. Made of 100% natural materials and 100% recyclable!
All our flower bulbs have the Holland Selection A quality mark, and come with a 100% guarantee that they will grow and bloom. You can be certain that the flower bulbs will grow.

Planting+

As soon as possible after receiving the Colchicum corms, they can be planted in the garden, a flower pot or in a planter. Plant the corms in a planting hole that is three times as deep as the height of the corm. Therefore a corm of 5 cm should be planted in a 15 cm deep hole. The planting distance of Autumn Meadow Saffron is about 10 cm. Loosen the soil well and plant the corms with the point facing upwards. Refill the planting hole and water immediately. Colchicums grow best in nutritious soil that is not too dry in a spot in full sun or partial shade.

Colchicum in the garden

Colchicum can grow almost anywhere in the garden. In the autumn, a large group of Autumn Meadow Saffron will look amazing. Plant the corms in the garden border, in the rock garden or under the bushes. These flowers also look great on the lawn, but you can only mow in the spring when the leaves have turned yellow. Colchicum also grows well in a pot and will create a attractive display on your patio or decking! Make sure you use fresh potting soil and a pot that has adequate drainage.

Care+

The corms of the Autumn Meadow Saffron can grow in the same spot for years and are ideal for naturalising between deciduous shrubs. The plants will become increasingly beautiful with each year. Colchicum is an easy-to-grow plant that demands little care.

Extra+

Our collection includes Colchicum ‘The Giant’ (extra large flowers), Colchicum ‘Autumnale Album’ (white) and the double-flowered Colchicum ‘Waterlily’. Every flower of the 'Waterlily' has more than 20 petals. The flowers of Colchicum ‘Autumnale Album’ remind us of crocuses. The flowering period of the Autumn Meadow Saffron is during the autumn and in the spring only its long, shiny leaves appear. Did you know that you can easily distinguish the Colchicum from the crocus? Colchicum has 6 stamens whilst the crocus only has 3. You can also use the Colchicum as a 'dry flowerer'. The corms can be simply be placed on a light, warm window-sill (without soil) and the flowers will soon appear. It can be returned to the garden immediately after flowering. The entire plant is toxic.
