2x Pink primrose Primula rosea - Marsh plant

Primula rosea
Butterflies around the pond
A wetland plant that blooms profusely. The pink primrose (Primula rosea) has dark green leaves with little, pink flowers growing up from them. The cheerful flowers also attract butterflies. It's a feast for the eyes! The decorative, aquatic plant can grow both along the edge of the water and in it. It can't grow under the water though. We can plant the pink primrose all year round. The flower blooms in the spring.
Plant the pink primrose in open ground immediately after receiving it. Keep the soil around the roots damp. Put the aquatic plant in full sun or partial shade.

Seasonal effects

The appearance of water plants changes between seasons. From a bare plant lying dormant in winter to fresh greenery in spring, in full bloom during summer to leaves changing colour and dropping in autumn. This is a natural process courtesy of mother nature. Our plants will be delivered accordingly.

Plant Primula rosea immediately upon receipt, into the garden. Choose a nice sunny spot, or part shade, in moisture retaining soil. The planting distance should be 15 cm apart. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting.
This primula looks great with other low growing plants at the edge of the pond or in borders.

Primula rosea is a perennial that will flower again every year. Water sparingly but don't allow it to quite dry out. Feed regularly when in flower. Snip off overblown flower stems entirely to encourage reflowering. You can get several flower stems per plant. If the soil is too wet in the winter the plant will not be happy so ensure good drainage
Primulas continue happily growing after flowering in summer, but they are then preparing for winter so will be dormant by the end of summer.

Primula rosea in the winter

Primrose foliage stays on the plant in the winter but there’s a risk that if the frost is too severe
it will turn brown. If planted in the garden, cover the plants with a mulch of leaf litter or straw for the winter. The plant is perfectly hardy but giving a little help won't hurt.
If potted up, you're best bet is to store the plant in its pot, in the light and frost-free. This pink primrose will then need less watering but don't allow it to dry out entirely.

Primula rosea flowers in the spring with lovely little flowers. These flowers are clustered on the stem and mostly appear before the foliage is visible. Very popular due to early flowering and such strong flower colour.
Primula rosea grows wild in humus rich and moisture retaining soil in the mountains of Asia, from Afghanistan across to Nepal.
Primula is classified under Primulaceae.
