How do I plant the narcissus?
It’s best to plant the narcissus as soon as possible after receipt. Plant it directly into the ground, in a flower pot or in a spacious planter. The narcissus grows best in loose, well-drained soil. A sheltered spot in the sun or semi-shade will do just fine.

The narcissus should be planted at a depth of 3 times the height of the bulb. For instance, if the narcissus bulb is 5 cm high it should be planted at a depth of 15 cm. The distance between small bulbs is 5 - 8 cm and 10 - 15 cm between larger ones.

Planting can be done in spring as well as in autumn. Use a small spade or a special bulb planter for planting. Plant the bulb with the tip up and the roots down.

How do I plant the narcissus in a pot or planter?
Put a layer of hydro grains on the bottom of a decorative pot. Place the flower bulb in the potting soil at the right depth. Water immediately after planting. A narcissus in a pot is not frost hardy. So put a layer of bubble wrap on the inside of the pot or put it inside before frost sets in.

Planting the narcissus in the garden
Find a suitable place in the border or create a flowerbed. Loosen the soil well and divide the narcissus bulbs across the surface. That can be done in groups of 6 or spread out evenly. Plant the narcissus as indicated above, water immediately, and don't walk on the freshly planted area.
Care
What do I need?
  • Watering can

How do I care for the narcissus?
The narcissus doesn't require a lot of care. Water well during dry spells. Make sure the soil doesn't become too moist. Remove dead flower stems so all the energy goes to the bulb. Clip off the narcissus's leaves once they turn yellow. During frost, put the pot inside in a cool area at a temperature above freezing. Cover the soil with leaves when the bulb is planted in the garden.
Extra
Daffodils come in various shapes and sizes. There are single flowers, double flowers, - large-flowered and small-flowered which are often displayed with several flowers on one stem. Even the actual trumpets vary - they can be large or small, also there is much variation in colour. The base colour of the petals is often yellow or white with the trumpet in a different shade. Large flowers are often in two shades. Most of the cultivars are deliciously scented too.
All daffodils (narcissus) make great cut flowers and look lovely in the vase, especially when they give off such a lovely scent.
