Planting
As soon as possible after receiving the Narcissi Mix bulbs they can be planted in the garden, a flower pot or in a planter. If not they must be kept in a frost-free area. Bulbs planted in a flower pot are not usually frost resistant. Plant the bulbs in a planting hole that is three times as deep as the height of the bulbs. A bulb of 5 cm should be planted in a 15 cm deep hole. The planting distance between the narcissi is approximately 5 cm. Loosen the soil well and plant the bulbs with the point facing upwards. Refill the planting hole and avoid walking over the soil. Plant the bulbs one by one with a small trowel or with a special bulb planter. For larger groups make a wider hole and plant more bulbs in it.
Scented Narcissi mixed in the garden
The more narcissi mixed bulbs you plant the greater the impact of the flowers. Plant in groups of at least 10 bulbs, or divide 25 to 50 evenly in a flower border. Narcissi grow best in loose, well-drained soil in a spot in full sun. Narcissus ‘Spectrum’ will also look great in a flower pot or planter. Make sure you use fresh potting soil and put a layer of gravel or hydrograins at the bottom of the pot. Plant the narcissi bulbs with the point facing upwards. Protect the bulbs against frost by placing the pot in a frost-free area or cover it with bubble wrap. Water during dry periods.
Care
The bulbs of the Narcissus ‘Spectrum’ can remain in the same spot for many years. Deadhead the faded flowers and this will direct the energy back into the bulb. After flowering, leave the foliage to die down naturally and cut back when it has turned yellow. Next spring, you can look forward once more to the delight that these narcissi will bring.
Extra
For Narcissus ‘Spectrum’, we selected the most beautifully coloured narcissi. Plus each variety spreads a delightful scent over the garden. Our mix includes small-flowered, single, double and fringed narcissi. The flowering period varies, that way you can enjoy the scented flowers for up to about six weeks. Other spring flowers will welcome their presence, like the small anemones. The Narcissus ‘Spectrum’ is definitely suitable as a cut flower.
