Planting
As soon as possible after receiving the hyacinth bulbs they can be planted in the ground, a flower pot or in a planter. If not they must be kept in a frost-free area. Bulbs planted in a flower pot are not usually frost resistant.

Plant the bulbs in a planting hole that is three times as deep as the height of the bulbs -a bulb of 5 cm should be planted in a 15 cm deep hole.

Planting distance is roughly 15 cm. Loosen the soil well and plant the hyacinth bulbs with the point facing upwards. Refill the planting hole and avoid walking over the soil. Plant the hyacinths one by one with a small trowel or with a special bulb planter. For larger groups make a wider hole and plant more bulbs in it. Hyacinths grow best in loose, well-drained soil in a spot in full sun or partial shade. Hyacinths in the garden A large group of mixed fragrant hyacinths will look and smell amazing. Plant the hyacinths in groups of at least 10 bulbs, or divide about 30 to 50 bulbs evenly over a flower bed. These hyacinths with firm stems also thrive in a flower pot or in a patio planter, where they can be planted closer together. Make sure you use fresh potting compost and put a layer of gravel or hydrograins at the bottom of the pot. To protect the bulbs grown in a pot against frost, move the pot to a frost-free area or cover it with bubble wrap. Water during dry periods.
Care
The flowers of these scented hyacinths are at their best in the first year. That’s why we recommend each year adding new and extra bulbs to make your borders and pots even more colourful. This hyacinth mix will thrive in nutritious, well-drained soil in an area in full sun or partial shade.
Extra
Our special mix of scented hyacinths consists of the most beautiful colours and the flowers smell delightful. These hyacinths fill the whole garden with their lovely perfume. Bring spring into the home by picking a few hyacinths for a vase in the living room. If you are mixing the hyacinths with other flowers in the vase, refresh the water every two days. Did you know that the hyacinth is related to the asparagus?
