Hydroponics: Attractive and easy to care for!

Ready for a new plant trend? Hydroponics involves placing the roots of your plants in water, rather than in potting soil. This Clusia's roots are resting in a beautiful glass bulb. The best thing about hydroponics is that you get to enjoy the stylish combination of plants and glass, and you get to watch the roots grow from all sides. The Clusia has oval green leaves that are green at first, and lignify over time. They then change to a brown colour. It looks beautiful in the glass bulb.
This combination hardly requires any maintenance. Also ideal for those of us who don't have 'green fingers'! Put the Clusia in a light spot, but away from direct sunlight. Rinse the roots about once a month and change the water in the glass. If the water isn't dirty, you can even leave it longer. If the water becomes cloudy before then, the glass can be rinsed and cleaned.

Extra tip: To prevent scaling in the vase, use spring water instead of tap water. Spring water is also full of minerals that help the plant to grow.
